New 17in Drill Press

LaVergne, TN- When JET® developed their new 17" Drill Press (JDP-17), they combined superior design with features that every woodworker needs. This drill press is designed to perform.

The spindle travels a full 5" with one revolution of the handle. The integrated depth stop makes repetitive drilling quick and easy, while the laser etched downfeed scale is an easy-to-see method of determining drilling depth.

The large 14" x 19" precision ground work table features twin T-slots and four table slots to accommodate jigs and other accessories. The table has a tilt adjustment of 90° left and right. The edge of the table is specifically designed to make clamping easy.

JET's exclusive Xacta-X laser system easily identifies the drill center on workpieces. The built-in, pivoting LED work light provides direct light while reducing shadows.  The drill press is anchored by a large cast iron base for rigidity and stability.

"We set out to design and build a drill press that would meet the demands of woodworkers," said Joan Duvall, Director of Product Management - Wood.

The drill press provides one-handed belt tensioning for quick and easy speed changes. The new belt tensioning system involves a cylinder stationed between the belt pulleys.  The user simply loosens the cylinder's head and slides it back to release belt tension.  Once the belts are readjusted to the desired speed, the cylinder is moved back into place and tightened.

The 16-speed drill press is powered by a ¾ HP, single phase, 115 volt, TEFC motor with a poly-v belt drive system to reduce vibration while providing a smooth transfer of power.  The 6.8 amp motor is designed to be used with a 15-amp rated electrical outlet. This drill press is CSA certified.
